Maybe it’s global warming. Maybe it’s just the cyclical nature of nature. Whatever it is, it doesn’t rain in Hawaii like it used to.
Hawaii needs an abundance of fresh water each day because humans here are so wasteful of the resource. The state’s population exceeds 1.3-million, the majority of whom live on Oahu. That population uses water faster than nature provides it.
Even if there was a balance between water usage and replenishment, which there is not, replenishment seems to be a thought from the distant past. It just doesn’t rain as much as it used to. We have less water on Oahu than we used to.

Duane “Dog” Chapman. Never has so little become so excessive, so gaudy and gone so far. Not far enough to entertain obscurity, I fear.
“Dog the Bounty Hunter” is a hit television show on an obscure cable channel. Every dog has his day, and star bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman has extended his 15 minutes of fame to a full on career chasing bad guys all over the world, and video taping their desperate attempts to avoid capture.
Everyone loves to see the bad guy get just desserts and Chapman serves up a raw boned dish each week, as he and fellow bounty hunters, video camera crew included, track down desperadoes for fun and profits. Mostly profits.

Disney’s The Lion King is in the middle of a 12 week run in Honolulu. I saw the movie already. End of story.
What is it about broadway productions that cause people to swoon and oooh and aaah when they go local? It happens all the time.
A decade ago “The Phantom of the Opera” plastered a white mask and a rose all over the Blaisdell each night. The same took place with the mournful image of Cosette during “Les Miserables.” I saw the former as a black and white movie, and the latter I read in high school. Both were boring. End of story.

There are a number of things in life that are certain. Death and taxes top the list of things all of us will experience, sooner or later.
Having a statue erected in our honor is an event for the celebrated few; sports heroes, politicians, business leaders, and kings. If I were a king I would ask that no one erect a statue of me after my death. Or, before.
Why? Two words: pigeon poop.

Perry and Price are the morning radio combo on KSSK. More people listen to those guys than anyone else on the radio in Hawaii.
It’s been Perry on the left and Price on the right for about 25 years on Honolulu’s top rated radio stations. Between you and me, Perry is really more to the right, and Price hasn’t been right for a number of years.

HawaiiBlogger has learned of secret plans by Honolulu’s City Council to sell Ala Moana Beach Park to General Growth Properties.
Council members have concluded negotiations with the owner of Ala Moana Center and Ward Centers to hand over the park to GGP once all homeless and vagrant residents in the park have been removed.

Commuting to work and back is not fun. It’s not even fun when you work at home but commute 90-minutes a day.
It’s my own fault. I work at home but I gave my wife the elixir of magical companionship while I drove her to work one day, and now she’s hooked, addicted to passenger status and can’t get the monkey off her back. Driving someone else to work and back should be illegal.

In case you haven’t noticed, a vibrant free press is under attack by special interest groups in Hawaii. This is my plea for you to support a free press. Mine.
I looked through the Honolulu Advertiser’s web site today. It’s the Sunday paper of local news web sites. Based on a comparison of the number of advertisements on the Advertiser’s site vs. HawaiiBlogger, I can only assume they are being influenced by special interest groups. Advertisers.

Global warming is here to stay. Every day the temperature of the earth’s atmosphere increases due to the build up of greenhouse gasses.
Or, something else. Or, not.
From what I can tell by having observed daily weather for a few decades (certainly sufficient experience to qualify me as a television meteorologist), the temperature changes due to a variety of factors. Those changes occur daily, monthly, yearly, and over decades.
It seems as though Hawaii is warmer now than it was 25 years ago, and that alone is sufficient proof of global warming, right? Maybe. Is the warmth we’re feeling these days because of a dangerous global warming trend, or merely a natural variation which may span decades?

Honolulu has a new class of boat people. Even free rides and free Wi-Fi do not make mass transit on the water any more attractive.
The Boat is Honolulu’s answer to mass transit without the masses. Faster than a sea turtle but slower than the parked cars on H-1 or H-2, The Boat is supposed to carry about 150 passengers from Kapolei to Aloha Tower Marketplace and back again.
Despite a heavily subsidized price tag, even a free ride and free wireless internet access has not attracted a crowd. The first day, 101 people rode The Boat. By the end of the week that number was down to a few dozen.
What’s the problem?
