Perry and Price are the morning radio combo on KSSK. More people listen to those guys than anyone else on the radio in Hawaii.
It’s been Perry on the left and Price on the right for about 25 years on Honolulu’s top rated radio stations. Between you and me, Perry is really more to the right, and Price hasn’t been right for a number of years.
Most of us tend to get lazy if we do the same thing day after day, year after year. I give Michael W. Perry credit for keeping the morning show lively and entertaining through the years, despite a shock of luxurious gray hair which gives him that younger Moses look.
Dr. Larry Price needs electroshock therapy. Not because there’s a mental issue that I know of (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but something, anything to prevent Larry from using the same phrases over and over and over and over, ad nauseum.
This is one of about a dozen annoying ‘Price on the right’ phrases which have burrowed into my ears. If you’ve heard Perry and Price, then you’ve heard the phrase “in the wonderful world of weather” more than once. Maybe 127 times a morning. I pity the folks who drive into town every day listening to KSSK. No wonder road rage is increasing.
Yes, we have weather in Hawaii. Yes, it’s wonderful. Larry, please, don’t remind me that it’s “the wonderful world of weather” when giving Honolulu’s weather forecast. Just stop it already.
Old habits die hard, and I suspect old people with old habits die hard, too, so we’re likely to have Larry Price on KSSK for another 25 years. If the ‘world of weather‘ phrase is uttered just a dozen times a morning (and I’m being kind and not counting), allowing for vacations and sick days, we’d still hear it another 72,000 times. As if the first 72,000 times wasn’t enough.
To help Larry break the habit of repeating the same phrases over and over and over and over, I ‘m preparing a stack of 3×5 index cards with different phrases to be used in place of the ones we hear so often. I’ll have them laminated so they’ll last another 25 years.
