So, you want to travel to a neighbor island to escape the teeming hoardes of people and traffic on Oahu? You need a checklist. Here’s my friend Kalani’s Top 10 Check List for Neighbor Island Visit.
First – which island? Maui? Kauai? Big Island? Molokai or Lanai?
Second – how to get there? Hawaiian? Aloha? Go? Or, whatever other airlines still operating. SuperFerry? Not yet.
Third – where you go stay? Condo? Hotel? Resort and spa? Aunty’s house?
4th – where you like eat? Plate lunch? Hotel restaurant? No more Zippy’s, you know.
5th – how much money you take? Paper or plastic?
6th – rental car or taxi or cousin pick you up at the airport?
7th – how much clothes you take? Swim suit? Shirt with collar or no collar? How much clean underwear? Shampoo and toothpaste and toothbrush? Good slippah?
8th – what are you going to do? Hang out? Go beach? Eat? Sleep?
9th – you take gifts? If you stay with Aunty, you need plenty gifts, eh?
10th – how long you stay? One day not enough, two days better, three days more better. You get the idea.
