There are plenty of places in Hawaii where I just could not live. I don’t have enough money to live on Hawaii Loa Ridge. I’m not an environmentalist so I can’t live on Kauai. I get mold on my hair just driving around in Manoa Valley.
I don’t think I could ever live on the Hilo side of the Big Island, either. Not that they’d want me. I like dry. There’s no dry in Hilo.
It just doesn’t seem to rain like it used to and Hawaii has plenty of places which don’t get enough rain these days, despite what seems like a pleasantly rainy winter. Hilo is not one of those places which doesn’t get sufficient rain.
The way I see it, Mother Nature must love beating a dead horse. Whens it comes to dumping rain and more rain on top of rain, Mother Nature is out to get the folks who live in, around, and within floating distance of Hilo.
Those poor pour folks got inundated with enough rain this weekend to send Noah and his family back to the drawing boards and wishing for a Home Depot on the the Hilo side of the Big Island instead of the Kona side. One could argue that Mother Nature is punishing residents on the Hilo side for past sins.
Whatever it is they did that was so bad is enough to make me change the channel and hope that no one over here ever does what they did over there to piss off Mother Nature like they did.
